Dissemination of marine culture, sea knowledge and issues connected with sea sailing; Supporting yacht racing and activities aiming towards increasing the safety of navigation; Purchase of a yacht, which will continue the S/Y HETMAN's traditions on seas and oceans.

S/Y HETMAN was built in 1936 at ABEKING & RASSMUSSEN in Brema as a unique example of wooden yacht building.
Boat represents state of the art of the highest world class level. Her racing was first introduced under the flag of the Polish Naval Forces Yacht Club of Gdynia on the course Gdynia - Visby - Gdansk. Needless to say leaving all competitors far behind the steer. Taken over by nazis in 1939, she spent the war in Trovemunde under a German flag. The year 1946 welcomes the boat back sailing under the Polish flag. She actively participates in cruises, national and international races achieves lots of splendid successes. In 1961 she cruises to Britain and while still unequipped with the motor, is towed behind the fishing boat along the Kil Channel.

During the years 1967-1969 the yacht was rebuilt in the YACHT YARD OF GDANSK. The hull retains old traditional theoretical lines as a fine example of classical taste and beuty. Both fast and extremely sea worthy in facing the stormy waters. The longest cross - Atlantic cruise was during her OPERATION SAIL participation in 1976 and taking part in the 200-Anniversary of the United States independence. Sails 14700 nautical miles and visits 18 harbours in 7 countries - among others Cuba and Azores. During the next overhaul performed at the NAVAL SHIPYARD OF GDYNIA the Boat is revitalised gaining her old excellence. Unsurpassed elegance equipped qith highest grade mahogany planked hull and teak deck.

S/Y HETMAN - the pride of sailors of the POLISH NAVAL FORCES YACHT CLUB.
